Being single is rough

Once upon a time I was married. For quite some time, even. It was easy. Simple. We rarely fought, we had a common goal, and I thought we were going to be together forever.

Well, okay, together forever maybe not so much. Things don't always work out, and I learned to move on and date again. Dating in my thirties is so much different than my teens or twenties. That's a given, but I couldn't believe *how* different it really was.

For my first post, I give you PhD. He seemed cute, interesting, a bit odd. Really intelligent - definitely my type. He seemed reasonable enough to give my phone number to. And at first, that was fine. We texted a bit back and forth. Silly kind of flirty small talk that happens with someone you don't know.

Then this happened.

Friends, welcome to dating in the modern era.
